Mark Waggener
,
MD
Physician and Founder

Dr. Waggener is a board-certified emergency physician and has been practicing medicine since 1992. He also is residency-trained and board-eligible in neurology. Both of Dr. Waggener’s residencies were performed at the University of Michigan following his graduation from Rush Medical College in Chicago. Prior to founding Tranquility Ketamine Clinic, he worked as an emergency physician in Albuquerque and Santa Fe and served as an Emergency Department Medical Director in Albuquerque for several years. Dr. Waggener has had an interest in psychedelic medications since his early training in molecular biology and neuroscience at the University of Illinois at Chicago and has long been an advocate of these medications and their promise of relief from the suffering of mental illness and other related conditions. He has extensive experience in the use of ketamine for pain reduction and sedation in his practice of emergency medicine and is pleased to see the discovery of ketamine’s astounding effectiveness in the treatment of several mental health disorders and chronic pain syndromes. He has personally witnessed the success ketamine treatment has had in the reduction of symptoms of depression, suicidal ideations, anxiety, and chronic pain. Dr. Waggener sees the medical use of ketamine treatments as the best hope that many patients have for rapid and long-term symptom relief, and happier, more satisfying lives.

Michael Garrett
,
MD
Physician and Founder

Dr. Michael Garrett is a graduate of the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine. After training in general surgery, he spent three years in the U.S. Army stationed in West Germany. Upon return to the U.S., Dr. Garrett began full time emergency medicine practice, becoming Board Certified in Emergency Medicine in 1988. At that time, Dr. Garrett became a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine. For over 25 years, Dr. Garrett has been using ketamine for emergency department procedural sedation and has been impressed with the safety and efficacy of this medication. He has been actively following the literature over the last 20 years regarding the low dose use of this drug for many mental health conditions and has been encouraged by its ease of delivery and rates of success. With so many in our society suffering from treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, addiction and other challenging conditions, it is clear that ketamine infusion therapy is a groundbreaking treatment that holds the promise of rapid and long-lasting alleviation of the suffering of patients, many of whom had lost hope that they would ever find relief.

About

Take a new approach to treatment for your depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, OCD, stress, or burnout. Ketamine infusion therapy is a proven approach for addressing hard-to-treat conditions including depression, chronic pain, PTSD, and anxiety. Ketamine is a medication that was originally developed in the 1960s as an anesthetic. Safe and effective, it quickly replaced older medications and became the drug of choice for the rapid sedation of wounded soldiers during the Vietnam War. Ketamine is still used as an anesthetic today, but doctors have learned that when administered at a much lower dosage, it can produce fast and long-lasting relief from the symptoms of depression, PTSD (posttraumatic stress disorder), chronic pain, OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), anxiety, and stress-related disorders such as substance abuse and burnout.
