As The Wellness Drip’s Medical Director, Dr. Hawes brings key interests to our community which include medical and patient education, women’s health, preventive medicine, and effective practice-based integrative care which is evidence based. This holistic approach to patient care includes providing patients with care plans that embrace vitamin infusion therapy, alternative mental health solutions, nutrition, exercise, and science-based weight management. While his career has been primarily focused on primary clinical care, he also has considerable experience in academic medicine, hospital and behavioral health medicine, executive/administrative medical affairs, utilization management, regulatory and governmental affairs as well as providing urgent care services. Prior to joining The Wellness Drip team, Dr. Hawes worked as a primary care physician at both Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and Rutgers University, and as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He also served as the Director of Utilization Management and was the Site Medical Director at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, University Behavioral Healthcare, and University Correctional Health Care in Trenton, New Jersey. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Denison University, he attended Ohio State University where he received his Doctorate. Following this, Dr. Hawes completed his residency at Richland Memorial Hospital as part of the University of South Carolina Family Medicine Residency Program and then a Fellowship in Academics and Obstetrics in the Department of Family Medicine at Highland Hospital, the University of Rochester in New York. Dr. Hawes is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is an active member of the National Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Medicine. Dr. Hawes has the privilege of serving on esteemed medical committees and counsels for improvement in health care. These appointments include the Department of Health and Senior Services, the Office of Minority and Multicultural Health, a Member of the Health Advisory Commission, and a Grant Reviewer and Panel Chairman for The Health Resources & Service Administration, Division of Independent Review, in Washington D.C. Dr. Hawes is eager to proactively improve the health of our local community and sees endless opportunities for clients that choose The Wellness Drip as part of their journey to inner health and wellness.
Alyssa has vast experience in the healthcare field. Beginning her healthcare career in 2003 in the U.S. Army, she gained invaluable emergent and routine medical care which carried over into her transition as a civilian nurse in 2007. Gaining experience in community nursing, chronic and specialty infusions, and educational roles, serving clients across the age spectrum, she found her passion for infusion therapy. With the guidance of Dr. Hawes, Alyssa is leaving a lasting impression on all those seeking a new option for personal wellness. Amber comes to The Wellness Drip with over 6 years of medical experience in intensive & critical care, cardiology, & primary care. She is pursuing her master’s degree and has a strong interest in skincare, nutrition, and holistic wellness.
