When Dr. Abbas completed his residency in InternalMedicine and Psychiatry, as well as a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry, he hoped for a quiet life by a lake, seeing patients during the day, and returning home to his family at a decent hour. At first, Dr. Abbas thought he’d found the life he was looking for, but grew weary of the hospital system’s tendency to view patients as a commodity. Dr. Abbas moved to central Pennsylvania, hoping a new environment would be a better fit for his patient-centered values. Here, he realized that establishing his own practice was the only way to practice medicine the way he wanted. The name, Ethos, embodies how and why Dr. Abbas practices Psychiatry. Ethos has grown far beyond Dr. Abbas. It has become a collective with a mission to help patients rediscover their true selves by healing mind, body and soul.
