One of her biggest goals is making sure her patients truly thrive and live joyful, productive, meaningful lives instead of settling for mediocre baselines and merely surviving each day. Dr. Ballen specializes in treating a wide range of disorders including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, and addiction. She’s earned a reputation for taking on difficult and challenging cases, such as co-occurring disorders. Often times her patients have had trouble finding relief or even an accurate diagnosis, sometimes suffering for years despite trying numerous avenues for help. In 2012, Dr. Ballen became the first provider in Denver to offer ketamine infusions for treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, and more. Ever since, this life-changing medicine has been one of the most powerful tools she uses to help patients live better lives. Dr. Ballen’s integrative approach to medicine combines conventional therapy and medication management with holistic alternatives. She prides herself on investigating and addressing the root cause of symptoms, as opposed to just treating the symptoms themselves. Dr. Ballen’s clinical expertise and her specialty in intravenous treatments enable her to formulate comprehensive treatment plans for each individual patient that goes above and beyond traditional treatment methods. She strives to provide her patients with compassionate care in a warm and nurturing environment where healing can begin and well-being can flourish. Education Dr. Ballen received her Doctor of Medicine from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. She has practiced medicine in the state of Colorado since 2003, completing both her General Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. While in residency, she trained under Scott Shannon, MD, past President of the American Holistic Medical Association and the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. Dr. Shannon is an industry-leading pioneer in the fields of integrative holistic medicine as well as psychedelic medicine and research, and Dr. Ballen credits a lot of her inspiration and success to her time with him.
