As a Utah based clinical and wellness expert, I founded Great Salt Lake Medical to help individuals facing the real challenge of managing mental illness and mental health conditions every day. I specialize in treating complex trauma for individuals at Great Salt Lake Wellness, Inc. I am passionate about assisting individuals through the change process, to help them better understand the problems and difficulties of their unique condition, while holistically approaching their wellness through goals and treatment plans. It is my mission to affirm individual differences, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, economic background and unique cultural experiences. As a mother and a proud United States Air Force Veteran, I have a special affinity for the health and wellness of our Nation’s military families, many of which are struggling to receive the mental health treatment they need post-service. As a behavioral health clinical psychologist trained in integrated psychedelic medicine, I specialize in treating complex trauma and am able to assist many service members, through their healing process. It is both my personal and professional vision to continue offering affordable ketamine therapy to the general public, alongside ongoing mind-body connection education and services for a more peaceful mental and physical foundation to not only manage, but thrive in life.
I have been working as a Family Nurse Practitioner for the past 3 years specializing in family medicine, orthopedics and spine for motor vehicle accident patients, and a bit of urgent care. I’ve successfully helped people manage both acute and chronic conditions including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, weight gain, asthma, mood disorders and a host of others. Additionally, I co-own a business with his sister (also an FNP) focused on aesthetics and will soon begin helping people on their weight loss journeys through comprehensive medical weight loss. I also supervise and provide consultation for other RNs in the aesthetic field. During the course of my professional work as a FNP, I have learned the most important aspect of medicine to me as a medical provider is helping people drastically improve their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual lives through any safe and necessary means available. This has led me to provide services that I believe provide the most amount of benefit to one’s well-being. This now includes ketamine infusions used for mood disorders, PTSD, suicidal ideation, and growing list of other conditions as studies continue to come out. I’m married to my better half and we have 4 beautiful, talented, and loving children. We have 1 cat, 2 ducks and 9 chickens. I love the mountains on foot, bike, and motorcycle! I’m a pianist and vocalist and love good music. I’ve been a professional photographer for many years but now mostly focus on photographing my cherished family. I crave information and love to read non-fiction texts, mostly medical/scientific and religious, but would love to dive into US history at some point. Since I was young, I’ve always cared for and had compassion for other people, especially when ill or injured. I have been in the medical field for 13 years and have held many different roles during that time. My experience began after I graduated high school as a medical assistant. I loved this job but knew I ultimately wanted to become a registered nurse. While working as an MA, I went to nursing school at Weber State University and transitioned to a Licensed Practical Nurse, with my first role in behavioral health at the Slate Canyon Juvenile Detention Center. Once I graduated with my RN and BSN, I primarily worked in surgical services. I thought I would remain in this position indefinitely, but after 7 years I began to feel I had more potential that could be used in an advanced position. In the middle of the covid pandemic, I decided to become a Nurse Practitioner. I graduated and took my boards in July 2022 and began working at the Affordable Ketamine and Wellness Clinic. I never thought this is what I would be doing, but there is nowhere else I’d rather be! In addition to ketamine therapy, I own an aesthetics business with my brother, who is also a Nurse Practitioner. We offer skin treatments, injections, and hormone/weight-loss therapy. I am excited for my future with Great Salt Lake Medical and look forward to working with and treating patients with mood disorders. I recently got married to my better half, Ryan, and have been enjoying our time together before we start a family. I love being outside, lifting weights, cooking and baking, and spending time with my family who all live close by. Over the course of my 26 years as a nurse and nurse practitioner I have observed the struggles patients face accessing timely, competent, and compassionate mental health care. As a result, I have sought out opportunities to assist people in their journey to mental wellness. I started with Affordable Ketamine Clinic in 2022 and quickly recognized ketamine as a healing modality. I am passionate about high quality, safe, and compassionate patient care with the most progressive treatments available. When not working, I most enjoy time with my wife, 4 daughters, son-in-law, and grandson. I love running, camping, and all kinds of outdoor recreation. I recently fulfilled a bucket-list item by learning to play the banjo. I am the medical director of Affordable Ketamine and one of the first physicians to practice psychedelic medicine in the Western United States. I started my career as a respiratory therapist, where I was introduced to breathwork and alternative medicine practices, before attending medical school. After practicing general anesthesia for several years, I felt the call to immerse myself in psychedelic medicine as an extension of my anesthesia practice. Currently, I teach medical students at Rocky Vista University. I have research interests in clinical applications of ketamine, combining it with altered states breathwork and floatation tank therapy. I have led several ketamine-assisted psychotherapy training courses. I’m an avid outside adventurer and I have two little girls. I’m excited to be a part of the Affordable Ketamine team! I have been in the healthcare industry for over 25 years. I started as a CNA after graduating from high school. I worked in care centers and home health, which I enjoyed. I then worked for Intermountain Health Care (IHC) for 19 years overseeing patient self-pay accounts, collections, and financial aid. After leaving Intermountain Health Care, I joined Challenger School and worked as an administrative assistant for nearly 6 years. I joined Great Salt Lake Medical in October of 2023 and I’m very excited to be part of such a great team! I have been with my wonderful husband for almost 33 years! We have three amazing boys and two dogs. In my free time, I enjoy working out, camping, going to concerts, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
